Stuntman daredevil Evel Knievel was the target of an ongoing FBI investigation, newly released documents reveal.

The extreme biker was questioned over a series of violent attacks perpetrated in the US - allegations which he vehemently denied to local authorities and the Feds.

According to Associated Press, which obtained the documents, many of these attacks were against rival stuntmen.

Included in Knievel's evil rap sheet were queries regarding intimidation in Phoenix, a Kansas City assault and a vicious San Francisco beating.  In 1977, Knievel was jailed for assaulting a movie studio exec with a baseball bat.

The un-sealed files reveal the FBI came close to charging him in the alleged crimes but failed after the daredevil bluffed them with a lawsuit. 

Knievel stop defying death last year at age 69.
