Cheers star Bebe Neuwirth's new husband Christopher Calkins is a deadbeat dad . . . AND has been ordered by a court to pay back the money he took from his son's college savings account.
Christopher Calkins has been ordered by a judge in Marin County, California to replace $40,000 he took from his sons UTMA college savings account and to pay his ex-wife Susan Calkins's $4,000 attorneys fees.
He must also provide proof of a $750,000 life insurance policy for which Susan is the beneficiary.
In previous court filings Susan has called her ex-husband "a particularly egregious 'deadbeat dad,'" demanding he pay everything owed to her.
Bebe - who played Kelsey Grammer's screen wife and ex-wife Dr. Lilith Sternin on "Cheers" and "Frasier," and has two Tony Awards - was said to be unaware of her new husband's alleged debt and his lack of support for his kids, said an insider.
"Bebe would die if she knew that Chris was on the hook for all that money," the insider divulged.
Susan Calkins' suit also claims her ex is hiding "considerable personal income and wealth behind a smokescreen of lies and fraudulent accounting practices."
She said Calkins claims to have sold his Napa Valley winery Destino Vineyards for $200,000, but didn't give her any of the proceeds, and continues to pay dock rental for his 40-foot yacht.
Her suit says: "It is difficult to believe a woman of Ms. Neuwirth's accomplishments would marry a man who, to hear him tell it to me, has 'no visible means of support.'"
She added that her ex is "either willfully ignoring the support orders in this action, or is the biggest fraud since The Great Impostor."
Both Calkins will attend a court hearing November 30 before a judge.
